The Cure’s Perry Bamonte has passed away at the age of 65. The news was announced by the on their official website Today, December 26, 2025. According to the band’s statement, he died at home following a short illness over the Christmas period.

The band released a heartfelt statement honoring his legacy and his nickname, “Teddy”:”Quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative, ‘Teddy’ was a warm hearted and vital part of The Cure story… Our thoughts and condolences are with all his family. He will be very greatly missed.”

Bamonte’s career with The Cure spanned several decades and saw him transition from a member of the road crew to a core musician and Hall of Fame inductee.

Former bandmate and founding member Lol Tolhurst also paid tribute, expressing his sadness and sending condolences to those who knew him, while many more tributes continue to come in.
