Mac DeMarco played Stockholm on Halloween, setting the tone for something laid-back and playful from the start. The sold-out show had the crowd coming in early and ready – smiling, chatting, and clearly excited. The band embraced the Halloween spirit, walking onstage in costumes that immediately added a humorous, lighthearted tone perfectly fitting of Mac’s vibe.

Mac was animated and open, moving easily between songs and spoken moments. The set flowed effortlessly, balancing slower songs with upbeat favorites. Songs played were for example Salad Days, My Kind of Woman, Still Beating, For the First Time, No Other Heart and Heart To Heart . The crowd eagerly joined in with cheers and singalongs.

Several songs stretched into extended jams, giving space and time for beautiful guitar solos. Mac and the band sounded completely in sync – easy and natural. The songs felt well lived-in, the way they’re meant to be presented. The show wasn’t polished or tightly controlled – it was loose, human, warm, and alive. In other words, exactly what people come to a Mac DeMarco show for.

At one point during the show, he launched into a playful, improvised monologue – calling himself “dust,” “meat,” “your pig,” and “your leather,” claiming a kind of belonging to Stockholm. It was abstract and whimsical, but it didn’t feel like a bit; it felt like Mac thinking out loud and inviting the room to follow wherever his thoughts wandered.

Towards the end of the night, he played Moonlight on the River and Chamber of Reflection, the audience gasping with excitement. He added a small reflection on freedom and dreams. It didn’t feel dramatic or staged – just a simple yet impactful way to close down the show.

Overall, the show had a gentle energy. Nothing flashy, no big production, no distance between stage and room – just Mac being Mac: playful, genuinely warm and likeable. The connection felt easy and real, the kind that doesn’t need to be named or explained. It was less about spectacle and more about presence. It was just Mac, his band, and the present moment, all whilst delivering beautiful music.
