Norwegian cult artist Vilde Tuv, Known for her genre-defying sound and has also collaborated with Smerz and Jenny Hval at the acclaimed international music festival Le Guess Who?. Today, Tuv returns with “Solace In The Sun,” the second release from her new solo material, sung in English for the first time.

Over the past year, Vilde Tuv has performed at Scandinavia’s leading avant-garde music festivals, including Borealis, Insomnia, Strøm, and Intonal. She composed the score for the Norwegian feminist horror film The Ugly Stepsister (2025), which is currently screening in cinemas worldwide after premiering at Sundance and Berlinale. Her previous album won Electronic Album of the Year at Norway’s prestigious Spellemann Awards. She also toured Europe with her spellbinding one-woman show, featuring reverberated recorders, a haunting voice, and original compositions.

“Solace In The Sun” opens with the questions: “Do you find solace in the sun? Do you consider life as one?” before Tuv offers the haunting line: “To be alive is to be ready to die.” Though it begins with intensity, her signature hypnotic vocals quickly emerge to soothe, encouraging listeners to release control and find meaning in the everyday—mirroring the natural-world themes present in her previous track, “Morning Wind.” As the track progresses, it blooms into a majestically electronic and psychedelic soundscape, with Tuv declaring, “Look at me, I’m done with hiding.”

Vilde Tuv on the track, “I listened to a lot of dance music of the 90s with female vocals, profound and existential lyrics, doubled with intense emotional music. I was intrigued by this poetry which really didn’t hold a high status, but still was waterproof in how they held the greatness of the themes they were singing about. The song mixes song structure of a folk song but with sounds and themes remembering another time and place.”
