Summer Camp premiere “Bad Love” video

Summer Camp premiere their video for "Bad Love," of theit upcoming release 'Bad Love,'

Summer Camp has premiered the video for “Bad Love,” the title track first single off their forthcoming album. Bad Love will be released on May 26, 2015 via Moshi Moshi Records.

The video features Summer Camp – aka the duo of Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey – as teen movie idols: “We had the idea to make something along the lines of an American teen horror flick like Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer, but where the real evil isn’t a faceless killer but the darkness in a human relationship.” Snellin was also able to bring in two talented young actors with which he had previously worked: Bill Milner (who played the lead in Son of Rambow and the young Magneto in X-Men: First Class) and rising star Jessica Barden (Far From The Madding Crowd, Tamara Drewe). Shot at Elstree Studios in Hertsfordshire, UK – where Star Wars and The Shining were made – the clip brings classic ’90s horror movie back to life and captures a bit of the nostalgic spirit of “Bad Love”.

“I think we got all of our teen angst out on Welcome To Condale,” says Sankey of the band’s 2011 debut LP. “But this looks at how the cycles of those relationships repeat. The experiences you have as a teenager still happen to you, but as you grow up you’re better at dealing with them: the relationships you have with yourself, your family, your friends.” So with this album, they set about refining what they do best: creating a unique, immersive world through those heart-racing heavily distorted guitars, battered synths that sparkle like dirty tinsel, and the nostalgia triggered by a pastel sky.

In a similar vein to Welcome To Condale, Summer Camp have returned to writing stories about other people and imagined places across Bad Love. The self-produced album is moves from the dreamy krautrock of “Drive Past My House” to the sparkly pop and ‘better off without you’ snarl of the title track, from the catchy “You’re Gone” to the scuzzed-up and angsty pop melodies of “Horizon.”

Summer Camp will perform a string of acoustic in-stores across the UK later this month, in addition to a sold out headline show at The Victoria in London on June 1st.
