Panda Bear Premieres “Boys Latin” Video

Panda Bear Premieres "Boys Latin" Video 'Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper' Out 1/13 Via Domino + Now Available for Pre-order at iTunes, European Tour dates

The hallucinatory yet heartfelt video for Panda Bear’s ‘Boys Latin’ premiered earlier this morning. ‘Boys Latin’, the second single from the forthcoming Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper. You can watch the ‘Boys Latin’ video below.

The ‘Boys Latin’ video was directed by Isaiah Saxon and Sean Hellfritsch, the duo behind videos for Bjork‘s ‘Wanderlust’ and Grizzly Bear‘s ‘Knife’. Their SF-based studio, Encyclopedia Pictura, animated the video in 3D over the course of 4 months. The story of a young woman out for a hike along a coastal tide pool turns unreal when her encounter with a sea anemone triggers a phantasmagorical reaction. She meets a man who seems to be in a similar predicament, and together they start a family of sorts.

Director Isaiah Saxon explained it this way: “We tried hard to bring out the vibe of that alternating melody that Noah is singing. We wondered what that should look and feel like from a synesthesia perspective. We’ve always believed that shapes and forms themselves have emotional meaning. For example, round things are often cute and non-threatening, while spiky things usually seem dangerous. We ran with that idea by creating these dynamic forms that grow out of our characters as they deal with their emotions.”

Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper, the fifth studio album from Animal Collective founding member and critically acclaimed solo artistNoah Lennox, a.ka. Panda Bear, will be out January 13th, 2015, via Domino.
