The Naked and Famous Announce New Album

The Naked and Famous Announce Album 'Simple Forms', share the "Higher". 'New Forms', comes out October 14th.

The Naked and Famous have announced the release of their new album, Simple Forms, due for release on October 14th, on Somewhat Damaged/Kobalt Label Services. The band has shared first single “Higher” and announced an extensive North American tour to accompany this third album release from the group.

Originally hailing from New Zealand, Simple Forms was conceived in the Echo Park home studio of guitarist/vocalist/producer Thom Powers at a point where the band had come close to tearing apart under the strain of the breakdown of the eight year romance between Powers and co-vocalist Alisa Xayalith.

“My production idea in The Naked and Famous has always been to set the insularity of our songwriting in a space where intimacy and explosive excitement can bring tension and release,” says Powers. “To me, that is what contemporary pop should be. Our ambition is that this music be noticed and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in the studio.”

“There’s pain and passion behind this art,” says Alisa, picking up this theme. “Pop techniques are all about maximum impact. And it’s not like this is an album of bangers but it’s the most immediate thing we’ve ever done.”

The album is the follow up to their 2011 debut Passive Me, Aggressive You, which featured tracks”Young Blood” and “Punching In A Dream”, and 2013’s emotionally charged album In Rolling Waves. The North American tour kicks off this Fall after they play both weekends at this year’s Austin City Limits festival.
