The Imagineers debut "Californian's Drive All Day (In the Sunshine)"

Scottish four-piece The Imagineers will release their forthcoming album Utopian Dreams, on May 2nd via Hit The Light Records. Today, the band premieres their brand new single “Californian’s Drive All Day (In the Sunshine)”, which is now available to stream via Soundcloud. The Imagineers, play their next show on May 6th in Aberdeen, UK.

Utopian Dreams, combines elements of west coast surf, baroque pop, and singer songwriter, giving the album a film score feel. However, there is no denying a clear brill building pop inspiration and the band’s take on it, creating a sonic storyboard that could have starred the likes of Burt Bacharach and David Bowie, orchestrated by Ennio Morricone.

After the original band members parted ways in 2013, Steven travelled Europe with his guitar in tow, finding new inspiration by playing with various musicians around rural Spain, France and Italy. Eventually, Utopian Dreams was created as the record began to take shape. With Scott Forsyth (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Lee Ballard (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Marc MacCallum (bass, backing vocals) added to the ranks, The Imagineers were officially reborn.

The Imagineers have appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson as well as performing live at festivals such as T in The Park and Wickerman.

Utopian Dreams by The Imagineers is out on 2nd May 2017 via Hit The Light Records.
